On Sunday, England Cricket Board announced a strong 14-member squad for the first two Test matches of the three-match Test series against West Indies set to begin at Lord’s on Wednesday, 10 July 2024.

The squad included two players that have been selected for the first time at this level, a skilful seamer Dillon Pennington and wicket-keeper batter Jamie Smith. Moreover, the first Test would be legendary James Anderson's final Test and as he announced previously he would be retiring after it.

The right-hand batter Smith has been in spectacular form because of which Surrey consolidate their top spot in Division One. He has scored 507 runs at an average of 76.93.

On the other hand, the 25 year old Pennington has been a crucial bowler and has shown promise with the ball, taking 29 Championship wickets at an average of 23.03.
