India started Day 4 on a negative note as skipper Shubman Gill lost his wicket early, departing for a low score of 8 (16). Rishabh Pant walked to bat when the visitors were 92/3.

Momentum shifted towards England, and the situation required careful batting. However, Pant—being Pant—continued in his usual unorthodox style, dancing down the track and playing unconventional shots.

Pant Angry At Himself For Careless Cricket

Unlike the first innings, the southpaw struggled to find boundaries and had a few close calls, nearly throwing his wicket away. A video has now gone viral in which the 27-year-old was visibly unimpressed with himself, captured talking to himself at the non-striker’s end.

Pant, who was living dangerously, scolded himself for playing reckless cricket and repeatedly urged himself not to play dangerous shots.

“Tu aisa kyu kar raha hai, iski kya zarurat hai?” (Why are you playing like this? There is no need for it)," remarked Pant as quoted by Ankar Kar.

Dinesh Karthik, who was on-air during this incident, translated what Pant said to himself. Watch the reaction here.

Pant: The Entertainer in Test Cricket

Rishabh Pant has always played with this fearless approach, taking risks that require immense self-belief. It takes a different mindset to go against his natural instincts and play defensively. Even in the first innings, when the southpaw smashed a century, he celebrated with a somersault to entertain the crowd.

Pant has been an entertainer since his Test debut and is known for his fun banter with opponents. In the first innings, Ben Stokes had all the fielders placed at the boundary, and Pant cheekily informed wicketkeeper Jamie Smith about the tactic. Smith, in turn, challenged Pant to hit a big shot—and on the very next delivery, the 27-year-old danced down the track and smashed a six.

At the time of writing, Pant is batting on 20 (37) as India lead by 136 runs.
