Oman Cricket (OC) has agreed to pay the pending dues to all its players and support staff members from the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The board confirmed that the total amount of USD 225,000 will be disbursed among the entire squad by the month of July 2025.
Releasing an official statement, Oman Cricket explained that the delay was “procedural” in nature, even though the ICC regulations indicate that the prize money must be distributed to all players within 21 days of the board receiving it from the apex council.
Oman Issue Delay Clarification, Shame 11 Players For Walkout
Apart from confirming to pay the pending dues to the Oman players and support staff members from the 2024 T20 World Cup, Oman cricket also criticized the 11 players for walking out of the team just before the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup last year.
It is worth noting that 11 senior players, including Aqib Ilyas and Zeeshan Maqsood withdrew from national duty over pending dues mere hours prior to the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup held in Muscat last year. Moreover, as per an ESPNCricinfo report, Oman captain Kashyap Prajapati even left the country to find employment opportunities in the United States.
In an official media release, Oman Cricket said that the players were repeatedly assured of receiving their due payments, all in regulations with the ICC.
Addressing the walkout of the players, Oman Cricket also described it a “deeply concerning episode”, calling it an “irresponsible” move that “insulted” the entire team, coaching staff, board and the nation.
