On Day 3 of the first Test between India and England, Jasprit Bumrah was the star with the ball as the right-arm seamer took his 14th five-wicket haul. The 31-year-old was on top of his game and helped India restrict England to 465.
It was a one-man show as the right-arm bowler registered figures of 5/83, while the rest of the bowlers gave away 5/382. Thanks to Bumrah’s fifer, the match hangs in the balance, but fans are worried that the 31-year-old won’t be available for all five Test matches. Notably, the team management is managing Bumrah’s workload, and even the head coach has hinted that Jasprit will play at most three Tests.
Pujara and Gavaskar Appeal to Sanjana Ganesan
Recently, Cheteshwar Pujara and India legend Sunil Gavaskar made a special appeal to Sanjana Ganesan, who is part of Sony Network’s broadcasting team. The Indian stars asked Bumrah’s wife to convince Jasprit to play all five Test matches.
“I have a request for you tomorrow. You have to convince Jasprit to play a few more matches,” remarked Pujara during Extraa Inningss.
“There is an eight-day gap before the 2nd Test, and Lord’s he can’t miss. Then comes Manchester, where the ball swings till October, and then the last Test is just five days, ” added Sunil Gavaskar.
“I hope Jasprit you are watching this. Only you can convince him,” replied Sanjana while answering to two India legends.
Bumrah Provides Update on His Fitness
On Sunday, Bumrah was off the field for a brief time, but the India seamer has shrugged off any injury concerns and stated that he is indeed feeling good.
“Feeling good. It is a little bit colder here than in India. I am feeling fresh and good, so hopefully, good things will follow,” Bumrah said in an interaction with the BBC.
Jasprit Bumrah is yet to comment on the games he will play in this series, but at present, it is likely that the 31-year-old won't play more than three matches.
