England's premier spinner Adil Rashid achieved a significant landmark by dismissing Australia's explosive batter Glenn Maxwell in the ongoing One-Day International match at Headingley in Leeds. The veteran cricketer etched his name in history books, becoming the third English bowler to claim 200 wickets in the 50-over format.

The incident occurred during the 28th over of Australia's innings when Maxwell was trying to steady the ship alongside keeper-batter Alex Carey following skipper Mitchell Marsh's departure. However, Adil Rashid emerged as England's wrecker-in-chief, helping them get Maxwell's prized breakthrough.

Rashid bowled a slider, which went with the angle after pitching around the middle stump. As it was in his arc, Maxwell tried to break the shackles with an aggressive slog sweep. However, he ended up hitting the ball straight to the mid-wicket, where Jacob Bethell held on to a simple catch.

With Maxwell's wicket, Adil Rashid attained the 200-wicket milestone, becoming England's third bowler and first-ever spinner to do so. He also became the third-fastest spinner to enter the 200-wicket club in this format.

Australia In A Spot Of Bother In 2nd ODI vs England

After England captain Harry Brook won the toss and opted to bowl, Travis Head and Matthew Short provided Australia with a solid start. However, Brydon Carse opened the floodgates for Australia, dismissing the in-form Head with a short ball in the ninth over.

Following Head's departure, Matthew Potts wreaked havoc in the Australian camp, getting rid of Steve Smith and Matthew Short in quick succession. After Potts castled Smith, the visitors crumbled under pressure, losing their key batters one by one.

At the time of writing, Australia were in a spot of bother, placed at 216 for six in 34.5 overs, with Aaron Hardie and Alex Carey batting on 23* and 31*, respectively.
