Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed delivered a sensational performance in the fifth match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25. Playing for Durbar Rajshahi against Dhaka Capitals at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on January 2, Taskin stunned everyone with his incredible bowling.

He claimed 7 wickets for just 19 runs in his 4-over spell, setting a new record for the best bowling figures in BPL history. This outstanding effort also ranks him as the third-best bowler in T20 cricket overall, behind Syazrul Idrus and Colin Ackermann.

Taskin is now the third-highest wicket-taker in BPL history, with 112 wickets in 80 matches. Shakib Al Hasan leads the charts with 149 wickets in 113 matches.

Dhaka Capitals Post A Decent Score On Board

After opting to bat first, Dhaka Capitals faced early blows as Taskin dismissed both openers, Litton Das (0) and Tanzid Hasan (9), within the first four overs. Stephen Eskinazi and Shahadat Hossain Dipu rebuilt the innings with a solid 79-run partnership. Eskinazi was dismissed for 46, while Dipu managed a well-fought half-century before falling to Taskin immediately after.

Thisara Perera added quick runs with a 9-ball 21, while Shubham Ranjane (24) and Alauddin Babu (13) provided minor contributions. Taskin’s devastating spell at the death restricted Dhaka to 174/9 in 20 overs.

For Durbar Rajshahi, Taskin was the star of the show with 7 wickets, while Mohor Sheikh and Hasan Murad chipped in with one wicket each.
