To add sweetner to this news, Virat Kohli is not just player of the match but also the Orange Cap holder with 98 runs to his name in two innings. Today, his 77 came off just 49 deliveries with eleven fours and two sixes, taking RCB to their first victory of the season.

There was a good start from RCB in the powerplay as is restricted Punjab to just the score of 40 with the wicket of Jonny Bairstow. Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan tried getting Punjab out of the jail but the former fell early and it was then left to Dhawan to try and score big. He along with middle order contributed few runs but couldn't really free their arms against the likes of Yash Dayal and Mohammed Siraj who troubled them on regular basis. Jitesh Sharma and Sam Curran tried their best but lost their wickets too. In the end, Shashank Singh did his magic and took Punjab's score to 176 by the end of their innings.

Jonny Bairstow dropped Virat Kohli on the second ball of the run chase and that cost them heavily. Kohli smashed four boundaries in the opening over and never turned back. Kohli got his 51st 50th IPL score and that set the RCB innings in motion. He alongside Rajat Patidar kept RCB in the game scoring regular boundaries in the middle after Kagiso Rabada did some early damage with the ball. Harpreet Brar was influential in the game today bowling four overs for just 13 runs and two wickets. The middle order couldn't get going and RCB looked out of the game after Kohli left. However, the duo of Mahipal Lomror were the star performers for the side who took them to victory in the final over by four wickets!
