Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo recently expressed his confidence in the West Indies team winning the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
Bravo recently took centre stage as part of the celebration to mark 100 days to go until the start of the marquee event.
He emphasised the West Indies' current form in the shortest format and the advantage of playing in home conditions.
"I honestly think this West Indies team is a very good chance (of winning)," Bravo said in New York on Thursday as part of the celebrations to mark 100 days to go until the start of the 2024 T20 World Cup," Dwayne Bravo said.
"This current group of players is one of the better squads put together for a long time and I believe they have a very good chance. The people in the Caribbean will definitely go out in their numbers and support them and winning a trophy is very important," he added.
“My current favourite player is Nicholas Pooran”- Bravo
Furthermore, the veteran West Indies cricketer heaped massive praise on Nicholas Pooran and labelled him as one of the players to watch out for in the perennial tournament.
"My current favourite player at the moment is Nicholas Pooran," Bravo revealed. “I believe he has the ability to score big runs and the form he is in and the experience he has gained over the years he is a player that can play spin well, play fast bowling well and is very used to the Caribbean conditions," he concluded.
Nicholas Pooran is currently the second-highest run-getter for West Indies in T20 internationals, only behind Universe Boss Chris Gayle. In 88 T20 internationals, Pooran has scored 1848 runs at an average of 25.66 and a strike rate of 143.69.
The highly anticipated T20 World Cup 2024 is slated to start on 1st June, with the USA taking on Canada in Dallas. The tournament will conclude on 29th June 2024.
