BAN-W vs DEL-W Toss Factor

Dew has played a part in few of the matches in WPL 2024 so far. The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium surface suits the batters during the second innings. The pacers get early movement with the new ball for a while in the beginning of the match and the spinners tend to get grip off the pitch as well. However, the onset of dew completely changes the scenario in favour of the batters during the second half of the match.

Scenario: If Royal Challengers Bangalore win the toss

  • Although Royal Challengers Bangalore won a game chasing and defending, Smriti Mandhana will fancy bowling first in these conditions.
  • Their spinners have been doing well so far. Hence, at least three spinners from Sophie Molineux, Asha Shobana, Shreyanka Patil and Georgia Wareham are mandatory.
  • Shabbineni Meghana would be crucial in the middle order along with in-form batters such as Richa Ghosh, Smriti Mandhana, etc.

Scenario: If Delhi Capitals win the toss

  •  The Delhi Capitals won their last game while chasing against UP Warrioz and would like to replicate the act.
  • Their top-order batting has been sensational with Meg Lanning, Shafali Verma and Alice Capsey among runs.
  • Marizanne Kapp, Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy have gleam with the ball in hand across phases of the game.

BAN-W vs DEL-W: Top Captain and Vice-Captain Picks

Sophie Molineux (BAN-W): The Australian spinner has been sensational with both bat and ball in hand. Especially, with the cork, the left-arm orthodox spinner has curbed the opposition from scoring quick runs and snapped wickets at various intervals of the game. Molineux also offers depth in their lower batting order and displayed a cameo in the first game.

Shabbineni Meghana (BAN-W): "Maggie Magic", a term that is profound among her teammates in the domestic circuit was a testament to the last couple of Bengaluru games. Meghana amassed 89 runs from two matches with a fifty against the UP Warriorz.

Scenario: If Delhi Capitals wins the match

Meg Lanning could be a safe choic as the captain or vice-captain for the match (Source: x.com)Meg Lanning could be a safe choic as the captain or vice-captain for the match (Source: x.com)

Meg Lanning (DEL): The former Australian captain often sets the tone for a chase or a formidable total in the early half of the innings. Having piled up 82 runs from two matches, Lanning seems to be in her run-scoring groove. She also scored a fifty against the Warrioz.

Marizanne Kapp (DEL): Be it with the bat or be it with the ball, "Queen Kappie" does not shy away from performance. Kapp is one of the best all-rounders in the tournament and often decimates the top-order with her ferocious new ball spells. She also has a good slower one to flummox the batters. In addition, Kapp is a sensational middle order batter.

BAN-W vs DEL-W- High Risk, High Reward

Smriti Mandhana (BAN-W): The Bangalore captain failed to get a good start against UP Warrioz but made a strong come back against the Gujarat Giants. Although the right-arm off-spinners have been a great match-up against her inside the powerplay,  Mandhana's aggressive gameplay could counter it on her day.

Alice Capsey (DEL-W): The youngster kicked off the tournament with a brilliant all-round display. Apart from her attacking batting, Capsey's right-arm off spin has added great depth to Delhi's spin department. Since she is not a full-timer, one cannot expect her to deliver consistently.

BAN-W vs DEL-W- Stay Aways

Taniya Bhatia (DEL-W): The wicketkeeper-batter hardly gets a chance to bat. Even if she gets, Bhatia is not the one whom a side could rely with the bat. Since she is playing as a specialised keeper, its more likely that she'll fetch very below-par points with glovework.

Simran Bahadur (RCB-W): Known for her right-arm medium pace bowling Simran Bahadur is yet to bowl an over in WPL 2024. She played the last game but did not get a chance to bowl in the 20 overs.
