NZ vs AUS Toss Factor

The Eden Park is a decent-scoring venue and the batters tend to enjoy here as the ball comes nicely onto the bat during the first innings. However, Its not always easy to bat on during the second innings as was New Zealand faced the Aussie heat in the latest encounter. The pacers tend to generate swing with the new ball but there's some assistance for the spinners as well. The bounce is true in nature with short square boundary dimensions.

Scenario: If Australia win the toss

Having won the three-match series and keeping in mind that this is their last international assignment before the 2024 T20 World Cup, Mitch Marsh could field first. They may test their strength on different circumstances on this case players such as Steve Smith or Josh Inglis may come handy. There's no doubt on the capabilities of their top and other middle order batters, but if the bat second, the Kangaroos will have to bank on reliable batters under tricky situations.

With the ball in hand, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood should be the favourites due to their good form and strength to ask the right questions to the opposition batters consistently.

Scenario: If New Zealand win the toss

The Black Caps must be tempting for a win to end things off with pride against the 2022 World Champions. As Will Young is doubtful to play the next game due to injury and keeping in mind the additional woes in the form of Devon Conway and Kane Williamson, players such as Glenn Phillips, Finn Allen and Will Young could play the differential innings with the willow.

Half of their bowlers have fared well in the series that includes Lockie Ferguson and Mitchell Santner who snapped five and four wickets respectively. In addition, Ben Sears looked good in the last game and could be bankable for points extraction.

NZ vs AUS- Top Captain and Vice Captain Picks

Scenario: If Australia win the toss

Mitch Marsh (AUS)- Since taking over as T20I captain, the all-rounder has been in excellent form with the willow. He averages 69 with the bat with a brilliant strike rate hovering around 170.  Marsh has already bludgeoned a fifty in the series and could turn up with his medium pace and snap crucial wickets.

Travis Head (AUS)- The left-handed batter has been having a great time with the bat over the last couple of years. Head was outstanding with the blade in hand at the fag end of 2023 World Cup knockouts and continues to thrive despite the format change. Head scored a fast 45 in the last game before Ben Sears outwitted him.

Scenario: If New Zealand win the toss

Glenn Phillips (AUS)- In the absence of their usual top order, the South Africa-bred cricketer will have loads of responsibility with the bat. Phillips is an outstanding cricketers who has the tendency to thrive under pressure. He also scored 42 in the last game.

Lockie Ferguson (AUS)- The pacer has been in top form with the white rock. He has frequently worried the opponents with his precise line and lengths and has the occasional leg-cutter in his armory. Ferguson has bucketed five wickets in two games and is the series' leading wicket-taker.

NZ vs AUS- High Risk, High Reward

Will Young (NZ)

The Kiwi opener will be filling the shoes at the New Zealand top-order like he has been doing. Although he had some excellent scores during the recently concluded Super Smash, the right-handed batter is yet to gleam in the series.

Glenn Maxwell (AUS)

The 'Big Show' is unpredictable with both bat and ball in hand.  He has displayed some flaboyant knocks in the past six months that includes plethora of runs coming in quick time. Also, Maxwell tends to get wickets with the ball on assitive conditions.

NZ vs AUS  Stay Aways

Mark Chapman (NZ)

Known for his contributions lower down the order, Chapman may have a less chance to showcase his authority early in the innings. On most occasions in recent times, he either plays quickifre or sucumbs under pressure.

Pat Cummins (AUS)

The Australian bowler has not fared very well in the ongoing series. Also, his T20I numbers are not as impressive as his red-ball stats are. Also, if he gets to bat, he shall get less number of balls to face.
