In a significant development, Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has come forward to express her support for Rohit Sharma. It is important to mention that, the Indian captain has opted out of the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney, after tough run in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Rohit Sharma has struggled with the bat throughout the series and have faced intense scrutiny from fans. His place in the playing XI was called into question and amid mounting pressure, Rohit made the decision to stand down for the final Test. This move, while seen as a 'Selfless' gesture, has sparked a broader conversation about Rohit's future in Test cricket. 

After all this going around Rohit Sharma, Vidya Balan, took to social media to back the star cricketer. The actress lauded Rohit's decision to step aside, calling it an act of courage.

"Rohit Sharma, what a SUPERSTAR 🤩!! To take a pause & catch your breath requires courage … More power to you … Respect," Vidya Balan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Fellow celebrities from the entertainment industry, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, have also expressed their admiration for Rohit’s leadership and character. In a heartfelt post on social media, the star actor emphasized Rohit’s immense contributions to Indian cricket, both as a player and a captain. 

Just have to get this off my chest... This guy has done so much for Indian cricket and captained our team incredibly well and successfully over the years. His skill with the bat speaks for itself and there have been innumerable innings in which he’s shown us the elite level he performs at (sic)."
