Ahead of the highly anticipated IPL 2024 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) players tried their best to recreate superstar actor Rajnikanth's iconic sunglasses pose in order to pay tribute to the Thalaiva in his homeland, Chennai.

After securing a dominating 106 runs victory over Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders boarded a flight to Chennai for their upcoming clash against Chennai Super Kings scheduled for Monday, April 9.

That being said, KKR used the opportunity to be in Chennai to pay tribute to the homeland's legendary cinema actor, Rajnikanth. 

KKR players pay tribute to Thalaiva!

During a pre-game practice session in Chepauk, KKR players, including Varun Chakaravarthy, Andre Russell, Suyash Sharma, and Venkatesh Iyer, amongst many others, recreated Thalaiva's iconic trick with sunglasses. While some succeeded with the trick, the likes of Russell failed to pull off the iconic pose. 

The moment was captured on camera and shared widely on social media, where it quickly garnered attention and admiration from fans of both cricket and cinema. 

That being said, the upcoming clash between KKR and CSK is crucial for both sides. CSK started the season well under Ruturaj Gaikwad's reign. However, two tough losses in the middle have pushed them down in the points table.

On the flip side, KKR are riding on an unbeaten streak. Shreyas Iyer's troops have performed collectively as a unit and, even on tough days, have found their way around.

Regardless, with the home advantage in their favour, CSK will count themselves, as equal contenders, for a win against KKR tomorrow.
