Yash Thakur Picks First Five-Wicket Haul Of IPL 2024 With Match-Winning Spell Vs GT

Tearaway fast bowler Yash Thakur picked up the maiden five-wicket haul of his career, and the first of the IPL 2024 season through his match-winning spell against Gujarat Titans on April 7.

Turning up for LSG in front of their home crowd in Lucknow, the 25-year-old picked up his career-best T20 figures of 5-30, which also included the prized scalps of Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill and IPL cult hero Rahul Tewatia.

Just a day after Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler smacked the first set of centuries of IPL 2024, LSG fast bowler Yash Thakur picked up the first five-wicket haul of the season.

The 25-year-old did so against the famed batting line-up of Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on April 7. After removing Titans captain and Indian opener Shubman Gill, Thakur returned to polish off the tail with four quick wickets at the death.

Yash Thakur’s career-best T20 spell of 5-30 also kept Gujarat Titans 33 runs short of their target in the second half of the game.

Moreover, the youngster surpassed Mustafizur Rahman (4-29) and Gerald Coetzee (4-34) to register the best bowling figures of the IPL 2024 season. Notably, Thakur stood up to the occasion against Gujarat Titans after in-form teammate Mayank Yadav was ruled out of the game owing to an injury.

Fittingly adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts, Yash Thakur will now turn up for the LSG franchise against Delhi Capitals in match number 26 of the tournament on April 12.
