Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was dismissed off 39 runs after eating up 33 deliveries against Delhi Capitals earlier today. He faced the wrath of the fans for wasting a well-built platform set up by the opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan.

To terminate their losing streak of this IPL edition, MI hosted DC at the Wankhede Stadium in the opening matchup of the Super Sunday doubleheader.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan fired shots in the powerplay to stitch an 80-run partnership. However, after the fall of the opening pair and anchor Suryakumar Yadav, captain Hardik Pandya ended up with a sluggish knock whilst trying to avoid further damage simultaneously.

Twitter users lambast Hardik Pandya again

While Pandya planned to continue the momentum, the execution is where the captain fell short. Anrich Nortje eventually dismissed him with a mere 39 runs fetched in 30 deliveries.

Needless to say, Hardik Pandya's low strike rate of 118 attracted criticism. He has already been in the eye of the storm since the beginning of IPL.

Fans on Twitter lashed out at Hardik Pandya for his slow innings and called him out for not meeting the standards of T20 cricket.

Moreover, with the T20 World Cup around the corner, many fans were also concerned about him not being good enough for the crucial finisher's role.

Despite Hardik's sluggish knock, MI finished with a massive first-inning score of 234 runs. Romario Shepherd and Tim David slammed 50 runs in the final two overs to lead MI to a par total.
