The Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 is set to begin with spectacular festivities on August 29, 2025, at Vizag’s Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium. But beyond the raiding and tackling, the opening ceremony will witness a symbolic moment in Indian sports, cricket’s newest megastar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, launching the kabaddi extravaganza.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, just 13 years old when he was picked in the IPL auction, has rapidly become one of the most exciting talents in Indian cricket. His rise from a child prodigy to an IPL match-winner has been nothing short of sensational. 

Suryavanshi's Rise To Fame!

In the 2025 season playing for Rajasthan Royals, Suryavanshi announced his arrival on the big stage with a blistering 101 off just 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, an innings that showcased not just power but remarkable composure for a teenager. He finished the season with 252 runs in just 7 innings, boasting a jaw-dropping strike rate of 206.56, making him one of the most feared finishers in the tournament.

His ability to perform under pressure and his widespread appeal among young fans made him the perfect choice to inaugurate PKL’s new season. It’s a testament to his skyrocketing brand and influence that he is being entrusted with launching a league as popular and culturally significant as the Pro Kabaddi League.

PKL's Promising Opening Night

The opening night will also honour one of kabaddi’s greatest-ever players, Pardeep Narwal. The "Dubki King" will be felicitated in a special ceremony, celebrating his contributions to the sport. This blend of honoring a kabaddi legend while embracing a young cricket icon represents PKL’s vision of bridging generations and sports cultures.

The evening will then transition into high-stakes kabaddi action with a fiery South Indian derby between Telugu Titans and Tamil Thalaivas, followed by a clash between Bengaluru Bulls and Puneri Paltan. 

The presence of sporting icons from various disciplines will further elevate the event, underscoring kabaddi’s growing place in India’s sporting landscape. The ceremony begins at 7:30 PM IST, and expectations are as high as the jumps of the kabaddi raiders he will celebrate.
