Switching sides in the domestic circuit is not new in Indian cricket, as another Karnataka batter is set to follow the same path. Star batter R Samarth is eyeing a switch in his domestic season in the upcoming season.
After joining Uttarakhand in the last season, the Karnataka batter is set to tie up with Vidarbha for the upcoming domestic season. With that, the state will also find a potential replacement for Karun Nair.
R Samarth To Join Vidarbha
Over the years, Vidarbha and Karnataka have shared a rivalry in domestic cricket, but some ties between both states have grabbed attention. In the past, some Karnataka players like Karun Nair and Ganesh Satish tied up with Vidarbha for the domestic cricket, and another southpaw is set to follow their footsteps.
Cutting ties with Karnataka cricket, star batter R Samarth joined Uttarakhand last year. A year later, he is set to join Vidarbha for the upcoming season as the batter is seeking a new opportunity. After Vidarbha lifted the prestigious Ranji Trophy last year, Samarth’s inclusion will be a massive boost.
The batter confirmed his move to Vidarbha. As quoted by Cricbuzz, Samarth said, “I have taken the NOC from Uttarakhand and am waiting for the formalities.”
Vidarbha Will Find Karun Nair’s Replacement In Samarth
After the 2022 season, star batter Karun Nair parted ways with Karnataka to join Vidarbha, where he featured for two seasons. In their last Ranji Trophy triumph, Karun Nair played a crucial role and shone across the format in the entire domestic season.
Ahead of the upcoming season, he is set to return to his home side. With that, the state may find a perfect replacement for Nair in Samarth. Having amassed 6,157 runs in 95 first-class matches, including 15 centuries and 35 fifties, the seasoned batter will now aim to script another successful chapter in his career.
