Rayudu Compares Suryavanshi’s Flair To Lara
After incredible domestic success, Bihar’s 14-year-old boy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, secured his maiden IPL contract with the Rajasthan Royals. Known for nurturing young talent, the franchise stepped into shaping Suryavanshi’s career. Smashing his maiden century against the Gujarat Titans, the youngster scored 252 runs in just seven innings. With his electrifying batting, he took the center stage.
Praising Suryavanshi’s exceptional talent, former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu drew his comparison with the great Brian Lara. Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Rayudu said that the youngster could draw invaluable lessons from the Caribbean maestro.
“His bat speed is extraordinary. Jo uska whip aata hai (the bat whip which he generates) I hope nobody changes that. He should get better. Someone like Lara... maybe go and talk to him. He also had a similar type of bat lift. So he can learn about how to control the bat speed when you are defending and when you are playing with a soft hand. So if he learns that, then he will be an extraordinary talent,” Rayudu said.
Rayudu Urges Youngster To Block Out The Outside Noise
Early success often comes in disguise as destruction. As the youngster grabbed the limelight, Ambati Rayudu advised Vaibhav Suryavanshi to ignore outside noise and channel his focus solely on the game.
“He only has to focus on one thing, and that is he should not listen to many people. Don't listen to people; just back your talent. And for coaches also, it is important that usko zyada gyaan mat do (don’t give him too much advice.) Leave him,” he added.
After the thrilling IPL debut season, he channeled his class into the international level. Facing the England U-19 side, he scored the fastest ever century in the youth ODIs. as it’s just the beginning, a successful career is waiting for him.
