Shubman Gill, the rising cricket sensation from India, was recently spotted engaging in a friendly game of cricket with global singing icon Ed Sheeran in Mumbai, sparking excitement among fans of both sports and music.

Ed Sheeran, who is best known for hit songs like "Shape of You" and "Perfect,' is currently on a musical tour in India. He landed in the city of Mumbai a couple of days ago and visited local schools to engage with kids.

Meanwhile, earlier today, the singer was spotted participating in a friendly cricket match with Indian cricket's 'prince' Shubman Gill. Gill, who recently wrapped up a successful five-game Test series against England in Dharamsala, hosted Ed Sheeran in a cricket game to introduce the global star to Indian sporting culture.

Meanwhile, photos of their cricket session quickly went viral on social media, with fans expressing delight at the unique crossover between cricket and music. Gill appeared to be in high spirits as he shared a light-hearted moment with Ed Sheeran.

Many praised Shubman Gill for his down-to-earth nature and willingness to engage in a fun activity with a global celebrity like Ed Sheeran, especially with the approaching IPL season.

Gill is set to embrace the responsibility of captaincy this year. After Hardik Pandya went back to Mumbai Indians in a blockbuster trade deal, Shubman Gill was appointed as his successor as Gujarat Titans captain.

While the young batter lacks the desired experience to lead an IPL franchise, GT thinks they made the right call. With Gill considered as the future of not just the Titans but also Indian cricket, allowing him to lead the team would only help Gill mature as a complete cricketer.

Notably, Gujarat Titans will play their IPL 2024 season opener with Mumbai Indians on March 24 at the famous Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
