Shahid Afridi Reveals Why He Chose Shaheen Afridi For His Daughter

Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi revealed why he chose contemporary speedster Shaheen Afridi as his son-in-law and got him married to his daughter Ansha this year. 

Disclosing the reason for his personal choice, the ex-allrounder said he assessed Shaheen and his family's value system and found him an ideal fit for the wedding that took place on February 3. 

Subcontinent fans had been speculating about the famous Nikaah ever since rumours did the rounds that Shaheen's family had approached Afridi for his daughter's hand and that two big names of Pakistan cricket had held close discussions about the wedding. 

Ultimately, the two tied the knot after exchanging vows in an intimate Nikaah in February with Afridi's blessings. 

"Shaheen's family was in touch with my family on this topic for a long time. A human should be a human, that is the most important thing," Afridi said on Pakistan-based 'Samaa TV'.


Afridi Opens Up On Shaheen's Wedding To His Daughter 

Further speaking about the wedding, which would've been one of the happiest days of his life as a father, Afridi underlined Shaheen's values and hailed him as a great human being, having noticed him on and off the field in Pakistan jersey. 

"Shaheen is a great human. I didn't know him personally, the elders of our family used to know one another, but we lost contact [with each other]," Afridi said. 


"Whoever was playing domestic cricket with Shaheen praised his attitude and lauded him as a human being saying that he was very mature. So all those things were important for me that a human is a human," he added.

Back in September, Shaheen Afridi and Ansha Afridi’s walima reception took place in Islamabad, Pakistan's national captain. Following this, Afridi shared a series of glowing images from the ceremony with both the bride and groom held close to him.
