Very rarely do cricket teams dominate in World Cups, as India have in the ongoing edition of the global showpiece event.

Led by Rohit Sharma, Team India have already qualified for the semi-finals, and have steamrolled over their opponents, which include exceptional performances against South Africa and Sri Lanka, respectively.

Former Pakistan skipper and PCB chairman, Ramiz Raja has lauded Sharma and Co. for their dominant outing in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, having won all their matches thus far.

Speaking to Star Sports, Raja compared India's excellence with the bat and ball in the series to the great West Indies side from the 1980s, who ruled the roost.

West Indies won the inaugural World Cup in 1975 and backed it up by clinching the 1979 edition as well, before ruling the sports across the 1980s.

Here's what Raja said

"In white-ball cricket, by a long way. Also, from a batting genius perspective, they have got a list of great players. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul. From bowling aspect as well, they are relentless and clinical.

"I compare them to the Windies of the 80s. Obviously, the West Indies had more firepower with the ball, as far as speed was concerned. But when it comes to threatening the opposition with one-way traffic, with big margin wins, they are quite comparable."

India's batting has been firmly led by Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have been their best batters, while others like KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer have played second-fiddle.

The bowling spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah has been nothing short of phenomenal, with both Mohammad Siraj and Mohammed Shami being clinical. Both Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja have been remarkable with their bowling as well.

India play their final group match against the Netherlands on November 12 at Bangalore.
