Babar Azam endured yet another torrid outing, this time against South Africa in the second ODI of Pakistan’s home series in Faisalabad. Batting at number three, the cricketer scored just 11 from 13 balls before he was dismissed by South African fast bowler and Rajasthan Royals’ alumni Nandre Burger.
As one can expect, the Rajasthan Royals franchise took note of Burger’s success and posted a clip on their social media. However, many Pakistan fans took offense to the post, perceiving it as a subtle dig at Babar Azam and flooding the comments section with sharp reactions.
Pakistan fans go berserk over Rajasthan Royals post
Pakistan fans went berserk over a viral X post of India’s IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals. Apparently, the Royals lit the fuse by posting a clip of Babar Azam’s dismissal against Nandre Burger, with an intention of praising the South African paceman.
With Pakistan fans perceiving it as a subtle dig towards their icon, several ‘Men in Green’ supporters trolled the franchise for allegedly “being obsessed” with all things Pakistan. While some fans called out Rajasthan Royals’ hypocrisy by following Pakistan cricket despite India’s strong boycott calls against their neighbouring nation amidst the heightened geo-political tensions between the two countries, several others reminded the franchise of their lone IPL triumph back in 2008 and the contribution of Pakistan’s very own Sohail Tanvir towards it.

Babar Azam, meanwhile, is yet to notch up a single notable score for Pakistan in the past few months. With an ODI average of just 27.07 this year, and an overall international average of 29.84 across all formats during the same period, clock seems to be running out for the Pakistani legend courtesy of the rise of several up-and-coming talents in domestic cricket.
He will now face South Africa along with the rest of his Pakistani teammates on November 8 in the series-deciding third ODI.
