It was a night to remember for the India Women’s cricket team and fans alike, as the Women in Blue lifted the World Cup trophy for the first time on home soil at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

The atmosphere was electrifying, with a jam-packed crowd cheering loudly for the team. What made the moment even more special was that the win came after a series of heartbreaking losses earlier in the tournament. However, Harmanpreet Kaur and her team turned those setbacks into success when it mattered most.

Celebrations were in full swing after India’s triumph. Even after the victory lap, long after the stands had emptied, it was still a night to remember as the Women in Blue revealed a heartfelt victory song to mark the historic win.

Jemimah Rodrigues, in a video released by the BCCI, shared that the team had composed a special theme song but had promised not to reveal it until they won the cup.

"We decided four years back that we will only reveal the team song only if we win the World Cup and tonight's the night," Rodrigues said.

The team song lyrics can be translated as, "Team India... kar de sabki hawa tight, team India is here to fight... Our future is bright..Na lega koi panga, hum kar denge danga, raheha sabse upar... humara tiranga..." (Team India, Team India is here to fight, our future is bright, no one shall challenge us as we will beat them, above everything our Tiranga waves)

The players gathered in a joyful huddle with the coaching staff, singing and drumming on plastic bottles to create rhythm and beats for the song that sent goosebumps through anyone who heard it. Watch the clip here.

Meanwhile, the win itself was a testament to India’s dominance. Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma shone with the bat to post a strong total for South Africa to chase. Deepti then capped off a brilliant all-round performance with a five-wicket haul that crushed South Africa’s hopes.

The stadium erupted in celebration as Harmanpreet Kaur took the final catch to dismiss Nadine de Klerk, sealing a memorable 52-run victory and etching India’s name in cricketing history that the coming generation will cherish for long.
