November 2, 2025, was a historic night for women's cricket in India, as after 47 years since their first World Cup appearance, the Women in Blue finally lifted their long-awaited maiden World Cup trophy. India batted first against South Africa, and the resilience of Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma helped the team post a formidable total of 298 runs on the board.
It was Deepti Sharma once again who dismantled the Proteas batting order with a brilliant five-wicket haul, further defining a legacy that began back in 2014. South Africa were bundled out for 246 runs, handing India a comfortable 52-run victory at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
As cheers, laughter, and tears flowed overwhelmingly through the stadium, the entire cricketing fraternity joined in to celebrate and extend their heartfelt congratulations to the triumphant Indian team.
