India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has topped the list of most runs scored in ICC Women’s World Cup knockout matches. With a total of 331 runs in just four innings, she stands above some of the greatest names in women’s cricket.
In the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 against South Africa, India batted first and were off to a flyer start with a 104-run opening partnership.
Harmanpreet Kaur scripts new World Cup record
However, after a few quick wickets, including that of in-form batter Jemimah Rodrigues, captain Harmanpreet Kaur walked out to bat.
But she only added 20 runs off 29 balls before Nonkululeko Mlaba sent her packing in the 39th over.
Regardless, those 20 crucial runs were enough for Kaur to achieve a personal milestone. She is now the leading run-scorer in ICC Women’s World Cup knockout matches with a total of 331 runs in four innings.
Most Runs in Women’s ODI World Cup Knockouts
- 331 – Harmanpreet Kaur (India) (4 innings)
- 330 – Belinda Clark (Australia) (6 innings)
- 309 – Alyssa Healy (Australia) (4 innings)
- 281 – Nat Sciver-Brunt (England) (5 innings)
- 240 – Debbie Hockley (New Zealand) (5 innings)
Following her on the list is Australia’s Belinda Clark, who scored 330 runs in six innings, a record that stood tall for years before being overtaken by Harmanpreet.
The third position is held by another Australian superstar, Alyssa Healy, who has scored 309 runs in just four innings.
Notably, Harmanpreet’s record includes her unforgettable 171 not out against Australia in the 2017 World Cup semifinal, one of the most iconic innings in women’s cricket history.
Not only that, but in the recent 2025 World Cup semi-final against Australia, Harmanpreet Kaur scored 89 off 88 balls to guide India to an emphatic 5-wicket victory.
India fall short of 300-run mark in the first inning
Meanwhile, India failed to build strong partnerships against South Africa. After the opening stand between Mandhana and Verma, Jemimah and Harmanpreet Kaur fell on 24 and 20 runs, respectively.
However, Deepti Sharma scored a half-century to stitch a late stand with Richa Ghosh. Still India failed to cross the 300-run mark and post 298 runs total in the first inning.
