In a significant development, there are reports that Chennai Super Kings are looking to add Mohammed Shami and R Ashwin to their squad for the upcoming IPL season during IPL 2025 auction. 

According to a report from RevSports Global, the five-time IPL winners are keen on bringing Gujarat Titans' seamer Mohammed Shami to their pace attack. They also want a homecoming for Ravichandran Ashwin, who has spent considerable time with the Men in Yellow in the past. 

The IPL 2025 mega-auction is likely to take place in last week of November or in early December. All franchises have started preparing for the upcoming season as they await BCCI's decision on retention policy. The franchises have requested the BCCI to increase the number of retentions ahead of IPL mega-auction to keep their core squad intact. 

Mohammed Shami Missed IPL 2024 With Injury

Talking about Shami, he has not played a single T20I match for India since T20 World Cup 2022, but he is force to be reckon with in the IPL. Shami was the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2023, but missed the latest edition because of the ankle injury he sustained during ICC World Cup 2023.

In the latest events, Shami is recovering well as he is currently at the NCA nursing his injury. He has resumed bowling in the nets and is eyeing to return to India set-up through New Zealand series. Thus, he will be fully fit by the time IPL 2025 comes around.

R Ashwin Eyeing CSK Homecoming

Ashwin started his IPL journey with CSK and left the Men in Yellow in 2015. Since then he has played for several franchises, before settling with Rajasthan Royals. However, CSK now look to bring their star spinner back at his home ground for IPL 2025. 

Talking about CSK, according to RevSportz, CSK have already drafted a shortlist of players that they wish to retain ahead of the mega auction. The top five players alongside MS Dhoni that the franchise is planning to keep are Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, and Matheesha Pathirana.
