Team India’s historic win at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup at home seems to have reignited the excitement for the upcoming Bollywood film ‘Chakda 'Xpress’, a cricket biopic based on the life of legendary Indian fast bowler Jhulan Goswami. While earlier reports indicated that the movie will hit the streaming platform soon after India’s World Cup win, several circulating rumors are now suggesting that the biopic may have been delayed for an uncertain date.
Addressing the rumors, Jhulan Goswami herself has now expressed her reactions over the matter.
Jhulan Goswami ‘unaware’ of any delay
During a recent chat with the Hindustan Times, former Indian fast bowler Jhulan Goswami said that she is unaware about any rumors that suggests her Bollywood biopic ‘Chakda 'Xpress’ has been delayed. However, Goswami remained optimistic in her approach, saying that she is hoping for the best.
The former Indian fast bowler said:
“I am not aware of any such update. Let’s hope for the best.”
Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, also the wife of former Indian men’s captain and legendary batter Virat Kohli, is set to star as Jhulan Goswami in ‘Chakda 'Xpress’. The movie also marks her return to the industry in a leading role after a gap of seven years. The actress shot the movie soon after giving birth to her daughter Vamika.
With no set release date in sight, Indian cricket fans are demanding for the immediate release of the film, especially after India’s historic 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup win at home earlier this month.
It is worth noting that the film has been reportedly delayed a number of times owing to disagreements over its production. The movie was shot back in the year 2022 itself, but several concerns are keeping it from reaching the audiences.
As reported by the Times of India, the film officials have personally written to the top executives of Netflix India, urging them to “rise above the conflict”.
