Former Pakistani skipper and wicketkeeper Rashid Latif is in trouble as he faces a probe from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for criticising the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and their chairman, Mohsin Naqvi. The situation came into the limelight after PCB senior legal manager Syed Ali Maqvi lodged a complaint.

"Former wicketkeeper Rashid Latif has recorded his statement in two inquiries against him in Islamabad and Lahore," NCCIA spokesperson Najeebullah Hasan said in a statement issued to the Press Trust of India.

Earlier, Latif had criticised Pakistan’s constant changes in the leadership and how it impacted the team. While not naming anyone in particular, he said that the divide and rule policy applied was to maintain power and exploit divisions.

"Shaheen Shah Afridi named ODI captain. Divide and rule policy is a political strategy to gain and maintain power by creating and exploiting divisions within a population, such as religious, ethnic, cricket teams or class differences," Latif had tweeted. He added, "Pakistan is the only country that cannot even produce a decent captain."

Recently, the 57-year-old has been very vocal about cricketing policies practised by the Pakistan National Team. He also spoke about the high-pressure environment that surrounds the India-Pakistan matches during the Asia Cup 2025.

"There is a lot of tension between India and Pakistan, and now it’s reached the ground as well," he said to the Times of India, referring to the handshake controversy during the Asia Cup 2025.

Wasim Akram also under the radar of NCCIA

Meanwhile, former pacer and Pakistan captain Wasim Akram is also under the radar of NCCIA, although for a different case. He is allegedly in trouble for promoting a betting app. However, a formal notice has not been issued against him yet.

The NCCIA had confirmed these reports earlier this year and has stated that action will be taken if the charges are found true.
