Indian wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharat has gifted his Test jersey to superstar actor Chiranjeevi. An image of their union went viral across social media a day after Team India slumped to a 28-run defeat at the hands of the visiting Englishmen at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Bharat himself punched out valiant knocks across both innings of the hard-fought Test match, but failed to take his side past the finishing line.

Indian Test specialist KS Bharat caught up with superstar actor Chiranjeevi after the latter bagged the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award. Commemorating the momentous occasion, the 30-year-old cricketer even gifted Chiranjeevi his Test jersey during their meet-up.

KS Bharat recently turned up for Team India in their series-opening first Test match against England. Going up against England’s four-pronged spin attack on a turning Hyderabad surface, the right-handed batsman produced 41 handy runs during the first Indian innings, where he shared a valiant lower-order partnership with senior teammate Ravindra Jadeja.

Bharat’s innings, coupled with dazzling 80s from Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Jadeja took India 190 runs ahead of their guests at the halfway stage of the game.

After Ollie Pope smacked 196 to set up a 231-run target for the Indians, a top-order collapse prompted Bharat to form another cautious backend partnership, this time with Ravichandran Ashwin. At 119-7, both Bharat and Ashwin conjured identical 28-run knocks from their ends to take their side at the brink of a possible heist.

However, their sudden dismissals triggered another collapse as India fell short to concede an early lead to England in the series.

KS Bharat will now feature in the second Test match against England at the Dr. Y. S. Rajashekar Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium at Visakhapatnam from February 2 onwards.
