Indian women’s cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues stunned fans with a soulful performance of the song ‘Aashayein’ at the recent Reliance Foundation “United in Triumph” event in Mumbai. 

Her emotional singing was quick to go viral on social networking sites like Instagram and Twitter.

The song “Aashayein” is from the popular movie “Iqbal” released in 2005, and the song is all about hope, dreams, and overcoming adversity. At the event, which had several celebrities in attendance, Jemimah Rodrigues took the stage with her guitar.

She was singing this song with so much confidence that her voice left stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Isha Ambani, Radhika Merchant, Rohit Sharma, his wife Ritika, and others in awe.

The video clips from the evening showed Jemimah singing, strumming with ease, and even engaging with the crowd to sing along.

Jemimah is well known for her love of music, often sharing singing videos with her followers. But there is little time for celebrations, as she now prepares for a big responsibility in cricket. 

Jemimah to lead Delhi Capitals in WPL 2026

The 24-year-old has been named the new captain of Delhi Capitals for the WPL 2026 season, replacing former skipper Meg Lanning, who has moved to UP Warriorz.

The appointment has been welcomed by many, including South Africa all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, who believes Jemimah has the right qualities to become India’s future captain. 

Delhi Capitals will begin their WPL 2026 campaign against Mumbai Indians on January 10 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
