West Indian cricketer Jason Holder has openly called out the Indian cricket team and Pakistan for their on-field thatrics during the Asia Cup 2025. Holder has also stated that he is not happy about Pakistan players being ignored in T20 leagues across the world.
Cricket thrills with breathtaking on-field action, but its true magic lies in rivalries that stop hearts and divide fans. Since the beginning to the present day, no other rivalries have come close to the India-Pakistan rivalry as the neighboring nations delivered some of the craziest cricket dramas of the ages.
Among all the flashpoints, the Asia Cup 2025 showcased the rivalry at its fiercest, spilling beyond the 22 yards as India refused to receive the trophy from the PCB chairman. But in a recent interaction, West Indies star Jason Holder made a massive statement on his historic rivalry.
Holder’s bold words add a new twist to the India-Pakistan saga
Over the years, the game of cricket has seen some of the fiercest rivalries, and the India-Pakistan rivalry is above all. Over the years, across the formats, in different eras, the rivalry grew older with thrills and nerve-wracking moments. Whenever ICC events bring these two face-to-face, the world is guaranteed a spectacle filled with unreal drama.
In the shadow of the recent cross-border tensions, strained national ties spilled onto the cricket field as Team India refused to collect the trophy even after winning the Asia Cup title from PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. The rivalry has always been enjoyable to the world, but West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder walked on a different path.
Speaking in Game On With Grace, he shared his take on this. Reflecting on Team India’s move, he rated it as ‘just too much’.
“I don’t like the India–Pakistan beef. I saw India win the Asia Cup & they didn’t go to accept the trophy. It’s just too much, man,” Jason Holder said.
Certain Pakistanis can’t be involved in certain teams because they’re owned by Indian owners. It’s just sad, man," Holder further added.
India-Pakistan rivalry hits peak intensity at Asia Cup 2025
As the bilateral series has been on rest for a long time between the arch-rivals, the cricket world waits eagerly for the ICC events. The world already saw some of the craziest chapters of the rivalry, but the Asia Cup 2025 witnessed the fiercest versions of it.
Against the backdrop of strained ties, the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor poured fuel on the fire, turning a cricket match into something far bigger than the game. The rivals face each other thrice, including the final clash, and the Men in Blue kept their domination alive.
The drama picked up in the final match as Team India defeated Pakistan by five wickets and claimed the title again. But the celebration took a shocking turn when India refused to accept the trophy from PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. Naqvi didn’t deliver the trophy even later on, as the Men in Blue returned to the homeland without the trophy.
