"I Was Scared": Rinku Singh Opens Up On Special Bond With KKR Owner Shah Rukh Khan

Rinku Singh has been one of the biggest finds for Kolkata Knight Riders in recent years. The left-hander, who joined KKR in 2018, has earned cult status among fans with his fearless batting and match-winning knocks.

Rinku Singh Shares Heartwarming Travel Story With Shah Rukh Khan

Off the field too, he has a bond that makes him even more loved, his connection with KKR’s owner Shah Rukh Khan.

In a chat with RevSportz, Rinku shared a heartwarming story about the time he travelled with SRK, a memory he still cherishes deeply.

Rinku recalled an incident when KKR were travelling from Kolkata to Mumbai but he wasn’t part of the playing squad. He was in the standby list and had to travel separately for visa purposes. The team had already left and his flight was scheduled for the next day.

That is when SRK stepped in. His PA reached out to Rinku and asked him to join Shah Rukh instead of travelling alone. At first, Rinku wasn’t sure.

“I was scared… I kept thinking how will I handle it, what will I even talk about,” he admitted.

But eventually, he agreed and it turned into an unforgettable moment.

“I realised from my first year at KKR how special he is. The way he meets everyone, seniors or juniors with the same warmth is what makes him such a great man. That’s why people praise him so much. I was travelling alone but SRK found out and asked me to go with him. In the car, he spoke to me about my cricket, about the lean run I was having and kept motivating me. For me, that advice was priceless. I also sat in a charter flight for the first time with him. Those two hours with SRK were extremely special.”

It is stories like these that show why Shah Rukh Khan has such a strong bond with his players. Whether it’s seniors or youngsters, he is known to greet them with hugs, encouragement and personal care. 

Rinku’s Next Big Test

From those early days of self-doubt, Rinku Singh has now become a household name. He has cemented his place in the KKR set-up and earned a spot in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad. With the tournament around the corner, Rinku will be eager to deliver the same fireworks in blue as he has in purple and gold.
