Team India might just walk out in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 starting September 9 in the UAE without a sponsor logo on their jersey. That is almost unthinkable in modern cricket, where the jersey space is one of the most expensive properties in the sporting world.

But the exit of Dream11, forced by the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025 banning all real-money gaming platforms, has left BCCI scrambling for a new partner.

Dream11 came on board in July 2023 with a three-year deal, but the law has cut their innings short. Now the million-dollar question is : who will be ready to walk out and take guard as India’s next jersey sponsor?

Let’s take a look at three brands that are well-placed to grab this golden opportunity.

1. TATA

If there is one business house that knows how to play the long game, it’s the Tata Group. They have already been at the crease with Indian cricket when they took over the IPL title sponsorship in 2022 from Vivo and have secured a deal till 2028 That move alone showed their appetite to stay invested in Indian cricket’s most glamorous platforms.

For Tata, the jersey deal won’t just be about visibility, it will be about legacy. With companies like Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services and Tata Tea already household names, the brand stands for reliability and trust. Tata also has the financial muscle to outbid most competitors.

2. Reliance Jio

If Tata is the safe anchor, Reliance Jio is the power-hitter who loves to clear the ropes. Jio has already redefined Indian sports with its JioCinema OTT platform, which streamed the IPL and pulled millions of eyeballs away from traditional TV. Sponsoring Team India’s jersey would only strengthen its dominance in the digital space.

Reliance, through Jio and other subsidiaries, has been pouring big money into sports, from owning Mumbai Indians in the IPL to investments in the Indian Super League. With Ambani’s deep pockets, they have the resources to make this deal one of the most expensive ever. For Jio, the jersey would be the cherry on top.

3. Mahindra & Mahindra

Mahindra & Mahindra is another name that fits perfectly on the Indian jersey. Known for its sturdy SUVs, tractors and a strong international presence, Mahindra represents the kind of “Make in India” strength that fans would take pride in. They have been visible in motorsports and even in global events like Formula E so cricket would be a natural extension of their sporting ambitions. What makes this even more interesting is that Anand Mahindra himself is an ardent cricket fan. His cricket tweets often go viral which shows his genuine passion for the game.

That personal connect adds weight to the idea of Mahindra backing Team India as it wouldn’t just be business, it would be about love for the sport. Financially, Mahindra may not match Reliance blow for blow but they bring something equally valuable, brand trust and loyalty in rural as well as urban India. Their SUVs like Scorpio and XUV700 are cult favourites and farmers swear by their tractors. If Mahindra steps in, it will be more than a sponsorship, it will be about a brand that feels rooted in Indian soil backing India’s most loved sport.
