The Proteas managed to triumph in a rain-curtained encounter at Port Elizabeth, thumping the Blues by five wickets and seven balls. Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh added a significant amount of impetus to the Indian innings by notching up impressive cameos of 56 (36) and 68 (39) to steer India to a very commanding score of 180-7 before rain intervened with only 3 balls to go in the Indian innings.

As the chase got underway, the South African batters came out to bat with aggressive intent, smashing the Indian bowlers into different pockets of the ground. It was their strong top order that kept the home side very much alive in the high-octane run chase. Reeza Hendricks turned out to be the primary architect of South Africa’s remarkable victory, as he ended up chipping in with a robust contribution of 49 in 27 balls.

Following the conclusion of the 2nd T20I match, Dale Steyn reflected on Reeza’s blistering innings, which took South Africa over the line with ease. The former Proteas pacer was left in awe after seeing Reeza execute his gorgeous cover drives and drew comparisons with Virat Kohli's cover drives.

“He played so beautifully, technically correct but he also has an incredible power game and he is a wonderful timer of the ball. We talk about Virat Kohli having the classical beautiful drive, Reeza Hendricks is right up there in playing that shot.”

Moreover, in an interview with Star Sports, Dale further opined that the 34-year-old played sensibly and rode his luck during tricky circumstances which saved the day for South Africa at the end of the day.

“You saw tonight how well he played. He read the game well, took it on when it needed to be done. It was a superb knock. India were a little unlucky. They put in a second slip there, he was quite in position and they went a little wide but he managed to get a couple of sneaky boundaries but that's cricket. He rode his luck and batted really well at the end of the day.”

Hendricks has displayed exceptional performance in limited-overs cricket throughout the previous few years. He is likely to carry his sparkling form to Johannesburg, where India and South Africa will once again square off in a thrilling series decider this Thursday.
