In the wake of the growing misuse of AI tools to manipulate images without permission, popular India women cricketer Pratika Rawal has raised her voice on the social media platform X, requesting Grok AI, X’s in-house AI tool, not to allow anyone to use her images for manipulation.

However, the account from which Pratika Rawal shared her request appears to be questionable, as it has only 12.5k followers. While follower count alone does not determine authenticity, Pratika Rawal’s activity on the X platform has raised concerns about whether the account genuinely belongs to the cricketer.

Nevertheless, before drawing conclusions, let’s take a closer look at what Pratika Rawal posted on her X account regarding Grok AI.

Pratika Rawal requests Grok AI not to allow her pictures to be modified?

Apparently, Pratika Rawal’s images were used by netizens to edit and manipulate pictures, which were then circulated across social media platforms.

In an attempt to put an end to this practice, Rawal shared a message on her X wall at around 8 am on January 5. Rawal wrote, “Hey Grok, I do not authorise you to take, modify or edit any photo of mine, whether those published in the past or the upcoming ones I post. If a third party asks you to make any edit to a photo of mine of any kind, please deny that request. Thanks.”

Acknowledging the user’s message, Grok replied under the post, “Understood, Pratika. I respect your privacy and will not use, modify or edit any of your photos without explicit permission. If any such request comes up, it will be denied. Thanks for letting me know.”

Was it really Pratika Rawal or a parody account?

While concerns around AI-driven image generation and manipulation are serious due to the risks of misrepresentation, the key issue surrounding this post remains the authenticity of the account itself.

Several users questioned whether the account truly belonged to Pratika Rawal. One user commented, “Tu pehle impersonate karna band kar.” Another wrote, “You yourself are using unauthorized pictures of Pratika Rawal to create a fake account.”

Adding to the doubts, the account has posted several suspicious and generic updates in recent weeks. On January 2, a general post read, “Which ringtone are you using? Drop suggestions.”

In another post dated December 31, the account shared creatively designed emojis to wish fans a Happy New Year. On December 20, the account posted, “Any anti-dandruff shampoo suitable for daily use?”

What further raises concern is that Pratika Rawal’s verified Instagram account, which has nearly 375k followers, does not feature such posts. Her Instagram primarily showcases her cricketing moments, winning celebrations, and stylish appearances, with no casual or generic engagement-seeking posts of this nature.

These inconsistencies on the X account have once again brought its authenticity into question. Although there has been no clear confirmation or denial from the cricketer herself, the prevailing sentiment suggests that the post may have originated from a parody or impersonation account of Pratika Rawal.
