Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta on Monday heaped praise on team captain Shreyas Iyer, calling him a “very down-to-earth guy” and “brilliant skipper” during a fan interaction on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
She also called Iyer the "sweetest and most soft-spoken" player in the squad, praising both his leadership qualities and personal charm.

Shreyas Iyer was signed by the Punjab franchise for a massive Rs 26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Under his captaincy, PBKS have won five of their nine matches so far this season. With the bat, Iyer has led from the front, scoring 288 runs at an impressive average of 48 and a striking strike rate of 182.27.
During her Q&A session, when fan asked about her thoughts on Iyer, Zinta responded with warmth and admiration.
“Shreyas is a very down-to-earth guy and an amazing captain. Very tactical and aggressive in his approach as a player, but the sweetest and the most soft-spoken guy. We are very happy that he is leading Punjab Kings & happier we could get him in the auction as he was our first & only choice for captaincy, therefore, the whole auction revolved around him for us as a team," Zinta tweeted on Monday afternoon.
The revelation gives fans a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes planning and faith the PBKS management placed in Shreyas Iyer ahead of the this season.
