The Punjab Kings, IPL 2025 runners-up, have taken the internet by storm. The team's social media admin recently shared a picture of global pop star Dua Lipa wearing a Punjab Kings jersey. But what is the full truth behind the viral photo? Let’s find out.

Dua Lipa is a British singer, songwriter, and model of Albanian descent. She was born in London and started to post song covers on YouTube when she was a teenager before she signed with Warner Music Group in 2015.

Her self-titled debut album, released in 2017, saw world hits like "New Rules" and "IDGAF". She became famous worldwide with her second album, Future Nostalgia (2020), with chart-toppers like "Don't Start Now" and "Levitating". The album won her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Dua Lipa’s Viral Punjab Kings Pic Is Not Real

Coming back to the Punjab Kings’ viral post, the picture of Dua Lipa donning PBKS’ jersey looked real at first glance. Many fans believed that Lips was actually showing her support to the Kings.

The post quickly went viral, with thousands of likes and comments. However, it didn’t take long for fans to notice something strange. A few eagle-eyed followers pointed out that the image was actually edited.

The original picture was from Dua Lipa’s own Instagram post, where she was wearing a plain white T-shirt. The Punjab Kings’ admin had photoshopped the white shirt into the team’s red jersey.

Once fans realised this, criticism started pouring in on social media. Many simply called the stunt “cringe” and “irrelevant”, accusing PBKS of trying too hard to stay in the news.

When Did Dua Lipa Last Visit India?

Dua Lipa’s most recent concert in India took place on November 30, 2024, at the Zomato Feeding India Concert held in Mumbai. During that performance, she sang on her Radical Optimism tour and also took fans by surprise with a mash-up of "Levitating" with Bollywood twist "Wo Ladki Jo." 

Previously, she took a secret vacation in 2023, visiting Rajasthan and New Delhi and touring places like Jodhpur and taking part in cultural experiences.

While Dua Lipa was expected to perform at the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final held in Ahmedabad, the plan never materialised.
