June 3, 2025 was the day Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally shed their chokers tag and lifted their maiden IPL trophy. Eighteen years of pain, memes and "Ee Sala Cup Namde" chants finally came to an end.
RCB’s First-Ever IPL Trophy Draws Record Views
But this wasn't just a win on the field, this was a digital storm. RCB’s long-awaited win outwatched even the mighty India-Pakistan clash from earlier this year.
"I've given this team my youth, my prime and everything I have, and finally, this moment has come," said an emotional Virat Kohli. And fans didn’t just watch, they showed up en masse.
According to a report by, MoneyControl, the IPL 2025 Final clocked a jaw-dropping 67.8 crore views on Jiostar, more than India vs Pakistan (around 60 crore) during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The viewership graph mirrored the game’s drama. It kicked off at 4.3 crore views and shot up in no time. The crowd dipped their heads when Kohli fell for 43 but online, the numbers surged to 26.5 crore. Jitesh Sharma’s fireworks took the number to 30 crore. By the end of RCB’s innings, it was a huge 35 crore.
Pandya’s Spell, PBKS’ Collapse And The Viewership Boom
With every PBKS wicket, viewership spiked. Prabhsimran’s fall saw views soar past 50 crore. By the time RCB were tightening the screws, it was bedlam in Ahmedabad and on screens across the country. From 55 crore in the 14th over to 63 crore near the close, fans were glued to their screens.
The final nail? When RCB sealed the deal, viewership zoomed past 67.8 crore. And yes, that beat the peak figures of India-Pakistan in the ICC showdown.
It is worth mentioning that Jiostar’s numbers count multiple opens so if you opened the app ten times? That is ten views. But even with that in mind, this was monstrous. And if you thought the India vs NZ Champions Trophy Final was big with 6.1 crore concurrent viewers, this final blew the roof off across total views.
IPL 2025 Was A Different Beast
This season rewrote the rulebook. Opening weekend? 4,956 crore watch minutes digitally. First three games? 137 crore views and 2,186 crore minutes watched. On TV, over 25.3 crore tuned in. CTV consumption went up by 54%.
Meanwhile, eighteen years, eighteen seasons and with No. 18 on the back, the stars aligned for Virat Kohli’s RCB and the curse was lifted. And the world watched. Again. And again. And again.
