Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer and his teammate Shashank Singh have once again squared off in a friendly Super Over challenge. Playing in Iyer’s apartment, the two cricketers were even spotted sharing a friendly banter.
At one stage of their duel, Shreyas Iyer jokingly compared Shashank with England fast bowler Chris Woakes.
Shreyas Iyer Teases Shashank Singh Over Field Settings
Shreyas Iyer and his Punjab Kings teammate Shashank Singh crossed paths with each other at the former’s apartment for a Super Over challenge. The two cricketers jokingly argued about fielding settings, with Shashank frequently teasing Shreyas with some verbal volleys.
When Shashank said that he was about to deliver a short ball, Shreyas compared him with England fast bowler Chris Woakes by asking:
“Woakes hai kya tu?” (Are you Woakes)
Both Shreyas Iyer and Shashank Singh formed forces at the Punjab Kings franchise earlier this year for the IPL 2025 season. While Shashank was one of the few cricketers to be retained by the franchise, the Punjab Kings owners shelled out a fortune to acquire the services of KKR’s IPL 2024 winning captain Shreyas.
Under his leadership, the Punjab Kings franchise reached their first IPL final in over a decade. However, they lost to a spirited RCB unit by mere six runs on the big day at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium a couple of months ago.
Nonetheless, Shreyas Iyer made his presence felt by cracking 604 runs in just 17 innings of the tournament at a prolific average of 50.33 with a strike rate of 175.07. Shashank Singh also belted 350 runs in just 14 innings at a strike rate of 153.50.
The two cricketers will likely be retained by the Punjab Kings franchise for next year’s IPL 2026 season.
