Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal found himself at the wrong end of SRH’s batting brutality in match number 50 of the IPL 2024 season. Turning up for his team at Hyderabad on May 2, the 33-year-old bowled four wicketless overs at the expense of 62 runs as the ‘Orange Army’ mounted 201-3 upfront.

Conceding four boundaries and six sixes in the innings, Chahal’s four-over spell against SRH marked his most expensive one in IPL to date.

Yuzvendra Chahal records his worst IPL spell

Yuzvendra Chahal conceded 62 runs without a wicket from his four overs against SRH on May 2. After being introduced into the attack by Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson right after the opening powerplay, the leg-spinner conceded just seven runs off his first over.

However, Travis Head launched back-to-back huge sixes against Chahal in the latter half of the spinner’s following over. Moreover, half-centurion Nitish Kumar Reddy also took a liking to the senior Indian spinner by accumulating 21 runs. Heinrich Klaasen tonked a couple of huge sixes at the death to consign Chahal to 62-run four-over wicketless spell.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s latest flogging at the hands of SRH batters extended his lean patch with the ball this IPL 2024 season. After claiming 11 wickets from his first six innings, the cricketer conceded 54 runs against KKR, 48 runs against Mumbai Indians, 41 against LSG in his subsequent three appearances in the lead-up to the SRH affair.

SRH eventually smacked 201-3 from 20 overs, with Nitish Kumar Reddy making an unbeaten 76 off 42 balls and Heinrich Klaasen composing a handy 19-ball 42*. Travis Head also forged a half-century at the top to set the tone of a high-scoring SRH innings.
