Assad Vala smashes Roston Chase with a Six [X.com]
Papua New Guinea's captain, Assad Vala, lit up the match against West Indies with a stunning six over extra cover, reminiscent of India's legend Yuvraj Singh's best in the second match of the T20 world Cup 2024.
This moment of brilliance came as a response to early setbacks after West Indies dismissed PNG batters Tony Ura and Lega Siaka for single digits.
The 36-year-old batter chose to take an aggressive stance against West Indies all-rounder Roston Chase, launching a maximum to shift momentum back in PNG's favour. The remarkable shot occurred in the fifth over when Vala faced a gently tossed delivery outside off.

With minimal foot movement, Vala effortlessly lofted the ball inside out over extra cover for a 74-meter six.
However, Vala's innings was cut short by Alzarri Joseph. The PNG skipper scored 22 runs off 12 balls before being dismissed, thanks to a sharp catch by Chase at backward point.
At the time of writing, Papua New Guinea are struggling at 112 runs for 6 wickets in 18 overs, with Kiplin Doriga and Chad Soper at the crease.
