A 22-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the show against England in the Vizag Test with an exhilarating double hundred. However, former English captain Kevin Pietersen wasn't pleased with the way Jaiswal threw away his valuable wicket on Day 2.

Yashasvi Jaiswal stepped out on Day 1 of the second Test between India and England with an intent to attack and play aggressive cricket. Out of all the experienced and high-skilled batters in the Indian lineup, a 22-year-old Jaiswal, with only 10 games of experience in red-ball cricket, played fearless cricket to demolish the English bowling unit.

While wickets kept falling from one end, Jaiswal hardly paid heed and continued his onslaught from one end. After getting his ton on Day 1, the opening batter walked up on Day 2, marching towards his maiden double hundred. He hit Shoiab Bashir for a boundary to bring up his double hundred and became the third youngest Indian to achieve the feat in Test cricket.

However, shortly after, Jaiswal lost his wicket while trying to attack veteran pacer James Anderson. Anderson had been the only one who managed to trouble Jaiswal throughout the first inning. The batter respected James's good deliveries until he attempted a lofted shot that went straight to Bairstow.

That being said, while the cricket fraternity lauded the young guy's resilient efforts, former England captain Kevin Pietersen wasn't pleased with Jaiswal's unnecessary aggression against James Anderson.

“He has the temperament to play the situation. The one thing he would be kicking himself about is he went off at Anderson. He probably should have waited. He should tried to hit a six every ball against spinners. It was Anderson's last couple of balls,” Pietersen said on Jiocinema.

“This ground is not big enough for Jaiswal, and he only has to half-connect against spinners to hit a six. We would've seen plenty of fireworks, but now, the game has moved on,” he added.

While Yashasvi Jaiswal scored more than half of India's first innings runs, he surely could have added a few more to strengthen the host's grip on the Test match. Nevetheless, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah's marvelous six-wicket haul, England bundled out for 258 runs in the Vizag Test.
