WPL 2025 Auction Date, Player List And Venue Revealed: Check All Details

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the schedule as well as the entire player list for the upcoming WPL 2025 auction. As many as 120 cricketers are set to go under the hammer, including 91 Indian stars and 29 international players.

The WPL 2025 auction itself will be organized on December 15 and will take place in Bengaluru. Here is a look at a detailed breakdown of the number of capped and uncapped cricketers, as well as the entire scheduling details of the bidding event.

WPL 2025 auction to take place on December 15

On December 7, the BCCI confirmed that the auction for the much-awaited Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season will be taking place on December 15 in Bengaluru, and the bidding event is slated to commence from 3:00 PM IST onwards.

As many as 91 Indian cricketers, including nine capped and 82 uncapped stars will go under the hammer. Moreover, 29 overseas players are also lined-up for the auction, which includes 21 capped and eight uncapped cricketers. Notably, among the 29 overseas stars, three of them belong from associate nations.

About 19 slots are up for grabs, with five of them reserved for overseas players.

The entire WPL 2025 auction event will be broadcasted live on Sports 18 and JioCinema.

Back in November, each of the five competing franchises confirmed a list of all their released and retained players. As per the retention updates, the Gujarat Giants franchise will enter the WPL 2025 auction with the largest available purse of Rs.4.40 crore.

The WPL 2025 season itself is scheduled to be played in February and March next year. The RCB franchise, led by charismatic Indian opener Smriti Mandhana, will enter the competition as defending champions.
