India and Australia on Day 2 (Source:@AP)
Australia have placed themselves in a commanding position at the end of Day 2 of the Pink Ball Test against India, with the hosts leading by 29 runs after reducing India to just 128 in their second innings.
Australia's first-innings total of 337, powered by a brilliant century from Travis Head had already put India on the back foot. The Indian response was led by the fast-bowling duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. However, despite a spirited effort with the ball, India faced a daunting deficit of 157 runs.
India Stumbles In the Chase
India’s chase got off to a disastrous start in their second innings, as the pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Scott Boland, and Pat Cummins wreaked havoc early on. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 24 off 31 balls. His partnership with Shubman Gill was short-lived, as Gill was cleaned up by an inswinging yorker from Mitchell Starc.
Virat Kohli in the middle order, continued to struggle against the moving ball, edging a delivery outside the off stump to the keeper after managing just 11 runs off 21 balls. However, it was Rohit Sharma’s dismissal that summed up India’s struggles on the day.
