Mohammed Siraj will likely be reprimanded by match referee Ranjan Madugalle following the conclusion of India’s pink-ball Test against hosts Australia at the Adelaide Oval. The Indian speedster was involved in some fiery exchanges with Australian batters Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head within the first two days of the match, and was even booed by the crowd at one stage.

Here, we take a look at what the International Cricket Council (ICC) rulebook says about Siraj’s animated actions as transpired in Adelaide.

What does ICC rulebook say about Mohammed Siraj actions?

Mohammed Siraj was involved in some fiery exchanges with the hosts within the first two days of the Adelaide Test. In the first of those incidents, Siraj hurled down the ball towards Marnus Labuschagne for backing out from his crease over a momentary issue with the sightscreen.

On Day 2, the Indian speedster gave Travis Head an aggressive send-off after knocking over the centurion.

Mohammed Siraj’s expressive outburst against the two Australian batters may not go down well the Indian fast bowler, as he will most likely be reprimanded by match referee Ranjan Madugalle after the pink-ball Test.

Siraj’s actions may have violated Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which “prohibits players from using language, actions or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter after being dismissed.”

If found guilty by the match referee, the 30-year-old will likely receive one demerit point. Moreover, the speedster might also be imposed a hefty fine after the match.

Regardless, Mohammed Siraj snared four Australian wickets in the first innings to collect figures of 4-98 in 24.3 overs. The tearaway Indian pacer dismissed Alex Carey, Travis Head before cleaning up the Australian tail alongside senior teammate Jasprit Bumrah (4-61).
