Women's cricket has sealed a place in the hearts of the fans after the inaugural Women's Premier League. In the last few years, the Indian women's team have been in excellent form and are reaching the knockout stages of almost every ICC event, which has caught the attention of cricket fans. As we head into the next season of the WPL, it will likely be played in a home-away format.

In the first season of the Women's Premier League, all the matches took place in Mumbai, and that too in the two stadiums. The two stadiums that hosted the league were DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, and the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

One of the BCCI officials has said that the possibility of WPL Season 2 being played in a home-away format is very likely, with Mumbai and Bangalore as the front-runners to host the fixtures of one of the popular women's franchise leagues.

The auctions for WPL season 2 will take place on the 9th of December, and the venues will be disclosed on the same day. The first season was won by one of the most successful franchises of the Indian Premier League, the Mumbai Indians, who added the WPL trophy to their cabinet, with Harmanpreet Kaur leading the likes of Hayley Mathews, Amelia Kerr, Pooja Vastrakar, and Saika Ishaque.

Smriti Mandhana, who led the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural season of the WPL, could not take her team to the playoffs as they could only manage to win two games out of eight fixtures and finished fourth among the five teams.

Recently, she showed interest in playing WPL season 2 in a home-away format. Mandhana said that, being a fan of RCB, she would love to play in Chinnaswamy Stadium with the energy of fans cheering for RCB.
