SIX vs REN, Match 2: Venue Analysis

The clash between the Sixers and the Renegades at the iconic SCG is expected to be a high-scoring clash. It's a batting-friendly track with support for the spinners as well.

SIX vs REN, Match 2 - Toss Factor

The surface at the Sydney Cricket Ground is expected to be helpful for the batters. The skipper winning the toss might look to bat first and put some competitive total on the board.

Scenario: If Sydney Sixers Fields First

All-rounder Sean Abbott, who has been playing international cricket of late with the Australian side, and seamer Ben Dwarshuis will look to pick up the wickets and restrict the Renegades to a low total. Experienced campaigner Steven Smith is relishing the role as an opener in T20 as he and Josh Philippe will have to play a crucial role in a big run-chase.

Scenario: If Melbourne Renegades Fields first

Veteran Peter Siddle and experienced pacer Kane Richardson will shoulder the responsibility of picking up the wickets for the Renegades. Melbourne also have quality spinners Adam Zampa and Mujeeb Ur Rahman in their ranks. Left-handers Quinton de Kock and Shaun Marsh will play a vital role for their side if they are up against a big target.

SIX vs REN, Match 2 - Top Captain and Vice-captain choices

Scenario: If Melbourne Renegades Fields First

Quinton de Kock (REN)

South Africa international Quinton de Kock had a stellar World Cup campaign recently. The left-handed opening batter hammered four centuries as he is the man in form at the moment. The Renegades will rely heavily on the Protea to provide them quick and solid starts especially if they  are chasing a huge total.

Shaun Marsh (REN)

Shaun Marsh has been around for a long time now as he is one of the most prolific and consistent batters in the history of the competition. The left-hander, who made a switch from Perth Scorchers to the Renegades, will again look to be at his usual best which is by scoring vital runs right at the top of the order.

Scenario: If Sydney Sixers Fields First

Steven Smith (SIX)

Steven Smith has found a new role in the T20 format as he now opens the innings for his franchise and international team. The right-handed batter smashed two centuries in last year's BBL while opening the innings. The 34-year old will again be looking to repeat the same form of the last campaign. His role becomes even more important in a run-chase as he provides the stability in the line-up.

Josh Philippe (SIX)

Wicketkeeper batter Josh Philippe is approaching 2000 runs in the league. The right-handed top-order player was also a part of the Australian team that lost the T20I series 4-1 against India recently. Philippe has been a familiar name for the Sixers over the years as he hope to begin the new campaign with a significant score under his belt.

SIX vs REN, Match 2 - Big Risk, Big Return Choices

Daniel Hughes (SIX)

Daniel Hughes is also a regular feature in Sydney Sixers setup every season. The left-handed player bats at the top of the order and is approaching 100 games with 98 outings to his name. Though he played only four games last year, he is expected to be a part of the playing XI for this fixture. With 13 half-centuries under his belt in the history of the league, Hughes seems a proper pick for this category.

Aaron Finch (REN)

Former skipper Aaron Finch will be playing under the leadership of Nic Maddinson this season. Finch has struck the second-most runs in the history of the tournament. He was also the leading run-getter for his side in the 2022-23 edition. He might look at his fluent best but is still a crucial batter in the Renegades setup.
