The ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2023 is all set to kick off in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Friday, December 8. This will be the 10th edition of the 50-over tournament, where Asia’s brightest cricketing talents will be in action.

The 10th edition?

Yes, this will be the tenth edition of the Men’s U19 Asia Cup, which was first held back in the year 1989 by the Asian Cricket Council in Bangladesh. Since then, ACC has managed to arrange eight more editions of the tournament with the last edition being played back in 2021 December in the UAE.

What about the teams?

Just like in the previous edition, there will be eight teams participating in the Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2023. ACC’s full members - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh—will definitely be there, along with three more teams - Nepal, UAE, and Japan—who finished as the top three teams in the recently concluded ACC Men’s U19 Premier Cup 2023 and qualified for the main event.

Who is the current champion?

India U19 are the current holders of the Men’s U19 Asia Cup. They defeated Sri Lanka U19 in the final of the 2021 edition in Dubai under the leadership of Yash Dhull, who went on to lift the Men’s U19 World Cup in the West Indies as well. India are also the most successful team in the competition, having won it for the record eighth time.

What about the format?

As for the format, the eight teams have been divided into two groups of four each. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nepal are placed in Group A, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Japan, Sri Lanka, and the host United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Overall, a total of 12 group matches will be played between December 8 and 13, followed by the three knockout games on December 15, including the final to be played on the 17th.

The teams finishing in the top two of each group at the end of the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals.

Venue?

The 2023 edition of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup will be played in the UAE, who is going to host their third edition of the tournament. It will be played across three venues in Dubai. The group stage games and both the semi-finals will be played in ICC Academy Ovals 1 and 2. The summit clash on December 17th will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
