Shadab Khan has been called up for the Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka [Source: ThunderBBL/X.com]
Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan is all set to leave the Sydney Thunder camp on January 4, after he was recalled to the national duties after a gap of over 6 months as Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka for a three-match T20I series, starting from Wednesday, January 7 in Dambulla.
Shadab last played for the Men in Green back in June against Bangladesh before he suffered a shoulder injury, leading to surgery and got sidelined from the marquee event of the Asia Cup. Thanks to his solid outings for the Thunder this season, he is set to slot right back in the playing XI for the SL series and the subsequent T20 World Cup.
Sydney Thunder announces Shadab's departure
In their official press release, Thunder confirmed that the Leggie will leave for national duty on January 4, but will also rejoin them on January 16 for the Sunday Smash at the SCG after the end of the SL tour.
"Shadab has been outstanding for us this season a,nd we’re excited to see him earn another opportunity with Pakistan. Representing your country is always a huge honour. We wish him all the best and look forward to welcoming him back for the most important part of our season," Trent Copeland, ST General Manager, said.
Shadab as well revealed his excitement to rejoin the team for the back-end of the competition, and thanked the team for their support in the initial phase of the tournament.
"It’s been an incredible experience with Thunder so far a,nd I've felt a lot of support in my time here. I can’t wait to come back at the end of the season and hopefully help the team in finals run," said Shadab in the official press release as the franchise congratulated him for his performances.
The 27-year-old player has so far played four matches of the ongoing BBL season taking wickets at an economy of 7.80, including a 4/24 against Brisbane Heat. With the bat in the middle order, the player has scored 100 runs in 3 innings, with the best of 31 against the Sydney Sixers.
