Just two days into the brand-new season of the SA20 league, records have started tumbling, and Paarl Royals took center stage on December 27 by getting all out for a record low of 49 runs, as they looked to chase 187 against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape at home in match 3 of SA 2025-26, losing by a massive margin of 137 runs.

Here's a list of the lowest team totals in SA20 history.

Lowest Team Totals in SA20 League

5. Durban Super Giants vs Pretoria Capitals, 2023 - 80

In match 15 of the inaugural season of the competition, Durban Super Giants hosted Pretoria Capitals in match 15 and decided to bat first upon winning the toss. However, things went south rather quickly for them, with openers Kyle Mayers and Wiaan Mulder being dismissed by Wayne Parnell in back-to-back overs for 0 and 5, respectively.

Quinton de Kock (13 off 15) and Heinrich Klaasen (31 off 24) tried to rescue them, followed by Jason Holder's 10(16), but a collective bowling effort, led by Senuran Muthusamy's 3/12 (4), got them all out for just 80 runs, and the target was comfortably chased in 7.4 overs by the Capitals.

4. Joburg Super Kings vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape, 2024 - 78

Joburg Super Kings faced Sunrisers Eastern Cape in match 25 of SA20 2024, whilst being in a tight race to the playoffs and were completely dismantled by Daniel Worrall and Patrick Kruger's 3-fer each.

Starting with Worrall's double-wicket first over, where he dismissed captain Faf du Plessis and Reeza Hendricks, Kruger went on to get rid of the middle order of top-scorer Wayne Madsen, the dangerous Donovan Ferreira and Doug Bracewell.

Madesn (32), Leus du Plooy (18) and Bracewell (12) were the only double-digit scorers as they got bowled out for 78 in 15.2 overs. Marco Jansen and Beyers Swanepoel also picked two each, and 79 runs were chased by them in just 11 overs with 9 wickets left.

3. Sunrisers Eastern Cape vs MI Cape Town, 2025 - 77

During the opening day fixture of the SA20 2025 season, the defending champions looked to start the campaign with style in Gqeberha and asked MICT to bat first on the day and got hit for what looked like a chaseable score of 174.

However, Delano Potgieter had other plans, as he ran over the Eastern Cape middle-order to pick the first five-fer of the season, finishing with 5/10 in his three overs.

Trent Boult started the innings with a 2/16 to get Zak Crawley and Tom Abell on successive deliveries, before Potgieter dismissed Makram, Beyers Swanepoel, David Bedingham, Liam Dawson and Richard Gleeson to wrap them up for 77 and win the match by 97 runs.

2. Pretoria Capitals vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape, 2024 - 52

The Aiden Markram-led SEC decided to win the toss and bowl first in Gqeberha in match 15 of SA20 2024, and the pace-bowlers proved the decision right by not letting the Pretoria Capitals settle into the first innings.

Started by Daniel Worrall and Marco Jansen's opening spells to get rid of the English duo of Phil Salt and Will Jacks, who were the only batters with a double-digit score.

None of the batters got going, as Worrall picked 3/22, alongside Ottneil Baarman's 4/12 (3.3) and Jansen's 2/11, as the Capitals got all out for a then-record 52/

1. Paarl Royals vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape, 2025 - 49

After being asked to bowl first in their opening match of the season, the David Miller-led Paarl Royals were taken to the cleaners by Jordan Hermann's 62*(28), as the Eastern Cape set a target of 187 on the day.

In response, the pavers were too hot to handle for the Royals, as Marco Jansen got rid of Lhuan-dre Pretorius in the first over, followed by a 2/7 (2) spell from Adam Milne to reduce the hosts to 10/3 in under 4 overs.

Anrich Nortje then looked as good as ever for his POTM-winning 4/13 (3), dismissing Asa Tribe, Delano Potgieter, Bjorn Fortuin and Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman. Spinners Ratnayake got 2/9, and Muthusamy got 1/3 as the Royals were bundled for 49 in 11.5 overs.
