Just seven months remain for the start of the Champions Trophy 2025, and the event has already been full of controversies.

For starters, Pakistan were the host nation, but due to the political differences between India and them, the tournament currently hangs in jeopardy. The BCCI, most likely want the tournament to be played in Hybrid Model, just like Asia Cup 2023. However, Pakistan are adamant and want the entire event to be held in their own country.

Jay Shah to meet PCB officials to discuss Champions Trophy hosting rights

As a result, the upcoming ICC General Meeting in Colombo could turn out to be a spicier affair, since BCCI secretary, Jay Shah will attend the meeting and will also have direct conversations with PCB officials.

While the official meeting agenda is not about the Champions Trophy hosting rights, it is speculated that the matter will be raised by both BCCI and PCB officials.

BCCI will most likely propose the Hybrid Model, but that would mean a loss-making proposition for the PCB and they will most likely reject it straightaway.

There have been rumours circulating that if India doesn't wish to play in Pakistan, the PCB higher authorities will push for Sri Lanka's inclusion in the Champions Trophy at the expense of Team India.
